Rochdale town centre PSPO
The Rochdale Town Centre Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) aims to create a welcoming environment for shoppers, visitors and businesses and allows us to tackle antisocial behaviours with support from the police.
End date of the PSPO
We originally introduced a PSPO in Rochdale Town Centre in 2018. The order was then varied and extended in 2021 until 2024.
Following consultation, the Rochdale Town Centre PSPO has now again been varied and extended from Tuesday, 23 July 2024 until July 2027.
Areas the PSPO covers
You can view the boundaries of the PSPO on the PSPO Restricted Area Map.
Restrictions on the PSPO
The PSPO prohibits the following activities:
- Driving or using a car in an antisocial manner.
- Obstructing the highway or loitering.
- Using a skateboard in the restricted area shown in red on the map above.
- Begging on the street in a way that is likely to cause intimidation or harassment.
- Using a bicycle, scooter or other wheeled vehicles in a way that may cause nuisance, alarm or distress.
For further details of these restrictions and what the penalties are, you can view the Rochdale Town Centre PSPO documents.
