In November 2022 we implemented a new Sustainability Assessment so we always consider how our decisions will contribute to the advancement of sustainability. This helps us make better, informed decisions and policies, as well as deliver more effective and cost-effective services.
We believe our Sustainability Assessment makes good business sense and implementing it effectively helps to drive value from every pound that the council spends, increase customer satisfaction with public services and create a place that balances economic growth, environmental care and social well-being.
What is a Sustainability and Equality Impact Assessment?
We include Equality Impact Assessments as part of our Sustainability Assessments.
A Sustainability Assessment is key to our understanding of how our work will contribute to a better and more sustainable future for all.
Equality Impact Assessments are key to understanding how different people will be affected by our activities and how we deliver services.
Our Sustainability and Equality Impact Assessments allow us to:
- Consider how we can address challenges such as poverty, inequality or climate change
- Make sure we can meet people’s needs now without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
- Identify any barriers and come up with ways to reduce or overcome those barriers.
