Naming ceremonies

About naming ceremonies

A naming ceremony is a special way of celebrating the birth of your baby or a new arrival into the family.

There are many reasons to have a naming ceremony, such as:

  • The ceremony provides an opportunity to formally announce the names chosen for your child and your reasons behind the choice.
  • You can make promises before your family and friends of your commitment to support and nurture your child throughout their life.
  • Your family and friends can also make promises of their special support and relationship to you or your child.
  • As the child can be of any age, it's an ideal time to welcome and celebrate an adoptive child into the family or to embrace stepchildren into a new family.
