Rochdale Borough Council were granted an injunction order preventing unauthorised encampments by the High Court on 11 June 2024.
The hearing took place on 21 May 2024 at the High Court in London. The judgment was handed down by the court on 7 June 2024. The Judge made a 5 year order against the named defendants and a one year order, reviewable in one year’s time, against persons unknown.
The judge also reinstated the power of arrest against persons unknown and continued the power of arrest against the named defendants. This means that 334 sites across the borough of Rochdale are protected from unauthorised encampments.
