Temporary school closures
Circumstances arise from time to time when it's necessary to temporarily close a school.
Headteachers should discuss and agree to the closure with the local authority and chair of governors. Closures should only be considered where the most extreme or exceptional circumstances make it absolutely necessary.
Each school will get in contact with parents and pupils using one or more of the following methods so that as many people as possible get the message:
- Texting, phoning or emailing parents
- School website
- School answer phone
- Local radio stations
- Notice on the school gate, door or window
