Play the fife
Fifes were developed in the Middle Ages and used in fife and drum bands and also marching bands. They are held sideways like a modern flute but they don't have any keys. Most fifes are made of wood, but they can be made of plastic or bamboo. Fifes also play in folk groups, in particular for Celtic folk music.
You can see a video of a German fife and drum band who performed alongside our Youth Wind Band in Peine on our Facebook page.
