Apply to hold a Victory in Europe (VE) Day street party
2025 marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day. There will be a 3-day bank holiday from Saturday, 3 May 2025 to Monday, 5 May 2025.
If you want to host a street party on Saturday, 3 May 2025 or Sunday, 4 May 2025, we may be able to provide you with road closures and traffic management measures for free.
How to apply
The deadline to apply to hold a VE Day street party is 11.59pm on Friday, 18 April 2025.
To apply:
- Speak with your neighbours and residents who'll be affected by the road closure to make sure they haven't got any objections.
- If your neighbours don't have any objections, complete the online form.
- We'll aim to get in touch within 7 working days.
Preparing for your street party
If your application is approved, you can start preparing for your street party.
Liability insurance
Event organisers are not required to have their event covered by public liability insurance.
However, we strongly advise that you obtain appropriate liability insurance cover for a minimum limit of indemnity of £2 million.
Risk assessments
You should not need a risk assessment for your street party.
As long as you give thought to the needs of everybody attending the street party, then reasonable precautions and safety practices should be sufficient.
