Refusing to bring your property into use
If you refuse to work with us to bring your property back into use, there are some steps we can take.
This includes:
- Resolving an issue ourselves - we can charge you for the work we do. If you do not pay, you could lose your property.
- Empty Dwelling Management Orders (EDMOs) - if you're unwilling to bring your property back into use, we can apply to manage your property for 7 years.
- Enforced sale - if we complete work to your property or land, under Section 103 of the Law of Property Act 1925, we have the power to sell your property or land to recover the costs
- Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs) - if there's a strong enough case and it's in the public interest, a CPO will allow us to acquire your property or land
