Swelling near your mouth or throat
Do not hold anything warm to your face or area of swelling, this will make the swelling worse.
If you're under a course of treatment at a dentist which has caused swelling, contact your dentist as soon as possible.
In severe cases, you must attend your nearest Accident and Emergency department or Urgent Care Centre.
Severe cases include:
- When the swelling is around your throat and airway
- When you find breathing and swallowing difficult
- When you've received a major trauma
If you're not sure whether you should go to Accident and Emergency, contact NHS 111 who will be able to advise you.
