About this event

28–31 May 2024. We’re taking part in the Festival of Libraries 2024 Look for a Book Challenge.

  • Who is this event suitable for? For everyone.
  • Is booking required? No, you can just turn up.
  • Contact: library.service@rochdale.gov.uk
  • Event organiser: Rochdale Borough Libraries

Hidden in libraries and parks all across the borough of Rochdale will be 50 copies of Konnie Huq’s ‘Fearless Fairy Tales’, lying in wait to be found.

In this shake up of classic tales you won’t meet damsels in distress, instead you will be captivated by characters like Sleeping Brainy, whose dream is to become the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Those who follow the clues will get a copy of the book and they will also have the chance to meet Konnie during the festival and find out more about her writing and days as a Blue Peter presenter (1997-2008).

Konnie says,

“I’m thrilled that Fearless Fairy Tales is off on a great adventure of its own around Greater Manchester’s green and community spaces for Look For A Book. I’m proud to be supporting libraries. This is such a fun way to share the range of services and activities they offer. Good luck treasure hunters and I look forward to seeing the winners in June.”

To take part, follow Rochdale Borough Libraries on social media:

Look out for clues posted each morning from Tuesday, 28 May 2024–Friday, 31 May 2024, which will hint where to find these extra special book packs. They will be in green spaces nearby, and some even hidden in the libraries themselves.

Once you’ve found a pack, there will be your very own copy of Fearless Fairy Tales to enjoy, plus instructions on how to claim your golden ticket, to be in with a chance to meet Konnie at an event during the Festival of Libraries itself. Good luck treasure hunters.
