- Introduction
-
The Prevent Duty was created by the Home Office as part of the government's counter-terrorism strategy. It lays out guidance for local councils to follow to prevent people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism. The prevent duty safeguards vulnerable people from harm.
The Channel Programme is a key element of the Prevent strategy. It is a multi-agency safeguarding approach to identify and provide support to individuals who are susceptible and at risk of being drawn into terrorism.
