Health and Safety Investigations Privacy Notice

We are responsible for carrying out investigations into work-related incidents that have resulted in death, physical injury, occupational disease or dangerous occurrences. The main purpose of an accident investigation is to find out what happened and why and to prevent similar incidents by learning from mistakes and improving safety standards.

We collect personal information to make sure that we can carry out our work. The personal information we collect includes:

• Contact details.
• Photographs.
• Health or medical records including disabilities.

When we collect personal information it may be about:

• Employees.
• Councillors.
• Volunteers.
• Claimants.

• Maintain accounts and records.
• Support and manage employees.
• Support and manage volunteers.
• Support and manage councillors.
• Conduct surveys and reviews.
• Undertake licensing and regulatory activity.
• Prevent and prosecute crime.

We're required by law to carry out investigations into work-related incidents. This is detailed in legislation and guidance including:

• Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

We're allowed to process personal and sensitive data for the following reasons under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Articles and the Data Protection Act:
