Fostering - Connected Persons Privacy Notice

Fostering is a way of caring for other people's children and young people away from their family home. Foster carers provide the day-to-day care and support to a child or young person in their home. However the child usually remains our legal responsibility. A Connected Person can be a relative, friend or any other person with a prior connection with a child or young person who is looked after by the local authority including:

• Grandparents.
• Aunts and uncles.
• Adult siblings.
• Other adult family members or friends.
• Someone who has known the child in a professional capacity such as a teacher or youth worker.

We collect personal information to make sure that we can carry out our work. The personal information we collect includes:

• Age and date of birth.
• Address.
• Gender.
• Telephone number.
• Marital status.
• Nationality.
• Passport number.
• National Insurance number.
• Bank details.
• Photographs.
• Attainment or educational data.
• Health.
• Religion.
• Ethnicity.
• Disability.
• Sexuality.
• Membership of organisations.
• Employment .
• Allegations, concerns, disciplinary, conduct issues.
• Details of family members.
• Crime or offending data.

When we collect personal information it may be about:
