Introduction

The Nest team offers support to parents who have had their children removed from their care through care proceedings. The support we offer is around understanding the trauma you are experiencing, and understanding the difficulties that lead to you losing your child. The Nest team has 3 defined pathways:

  • Pathway A – Post proceedings support. This is an adult pathway for parents who have lost first, or subsequent, children through care proceedings and support is offered for up to 2 years.
  • Pathway B – Pre-birth pregnancy support and assessment. This Pathway works with parents who have had children removed from their care through care proceedings and are pregnant. The pre-birth starts as early as possible in the pregnancy to enable parents to evidence positive changes they have made and enable decisions to be made regarding whether it is safe for baby to remain with parents.
  • Pathway C – Post birth support for those parents assessed as able to keep their children living with them from birth following successful pre-birth assessment and intervention. Support and intervention can continue from birth up to 5 years.
