Rochdale's town centre park, the oldest in the borough, is of great historic interest and contains the statue of John Bright MP. Of considerable landscape beauty and charm with significant views of the area, the park extends into the town centre. It is also a popular venue for various outdoor events.
The park has been extensively refurbished and contains a Victorian-style bandstand, bowling greens, and a play area for children.

- Bowling green. Council-run bowling greens close each year from 30 September until 1 April while we complete winter maintenance work

- Guide dogs: guide dogs are allowed.
- Paths:
- The area in general is wheelchair accessible.
- There's a combination of good tarmac paths and large paving stone paths on the top level of the park to access the bandstand, bowling green, play area, and outdoor gym areas.
- There are steep gradient paths down towards the Manchester Road part of the park and wildlife area.
- There's partial level access to the pond by gravel path and then steep steps.
- Play equipment: the play area currently has no inclusive equipment.
