Sustainability Assessment
In November 2022 we implemented a new Sustainability Assessment so we always consider how our decisions will contribute to the advancement of sustainability. This helps us make better, informed decisions and policies, as well as deliver more effective and cost-effective services.
We believe this makes good business sense and implementing this effectively helps to drive value from every pound that the council spends, increase customer satisfaction with public services and create a place that balances economic growth, environmental care and social well-being.
A Sustainability Assessment is key to our understanding of how our work will contribute to a better and more sustainable future for all. It allows us to consider how we can address challenges such as poverty, inequality or climate change and make sure we are able to meet people’s needs now without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
The assessment includes an Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) which will contribute to 'reducing inequalities'. EIAs are the key to understanding how different people will be affected by our activities and the ways in which we deliver services. They help us identify any barriers and come up with ways to reduce or overcome those barriers.
