Co-production is when people who use services, their families, carers, and professionals come together as equals, to share power and shape how services work.
By listening to what you think and know through your lived experience, we can work together to shape, design and improve services. This means we can achieve better outcomes for people to live the lives they want.
How we work
We believe people should be at the heart of everything we do by 'putting people at the heart from the start'.
Our vision:
‘Together we will promote independence, listen to what matters most, protect from harm and support people using strength-based, innovative solutions enabling high-quality care.’
Our principles:
- We are equal partners
- We respect everyone’s voice
- We are inclusive
- We continually learn and share
As a council, we can use the Co-operative Engagement Toolkit to guide us when changing or creating a service. The toolkit lets us know when and how to involve people in changing services.
The council will:
- Check how people who might use that service will be affected.
- Work together with people like you to change, improve, commission or co-design new services. This could be through carrying out questionnaires or surveys, holding workshops or involving people in meetings.
- Make sure all documents are accessible for everyone, and that meetings and workshops are held in places people can get to.
- Let people know how their help and opinions have helped to shape and improve new and existing services.
Get involved and join a co-production network
You can join one, or more, co-production networks to connect with other people and be a part of shaping our services.
If we work together, we're more likely to get things right the first time and provide services that truly make people's lives better.
