Choosing the right primary school for your child is a very important, and often stressful, experience.

You should follow the 4-step process to apply for a reception class place at a primary school.

This is the timetable for applying which shows the important dates you need to know about.

Monday, 14 September 2026	The online admissions system opens for primary school places starting in September 2027.
Friday, 15 January 2027	Closing date for applications Ensure your reception class application for a primary school is submitted before this date. Otherwise, you will need to apply for a late application.
Friday, 12 February 2027	Last date for any changes to the address in your application.
Friday, 16 April 2027	National offer day.
Sunday, 9 May 2027	Closing date for Round 2 applications.
Friday, 4 June 2027	Round 2 offers are sent.
Saturday, 5 June 2027	Online applications re-open. The online admissions system re-opens for primary school places starting in September 2027.
Tuesday, 31 August 2027	Final closing date for applications.
