Have you got what it takes to bake a showstopper worthy of being crowned the best cake? Rochdale Food & Drink Festival will be hosting an Easter themed Cake Competition when the event is staged at the town hall on Saturday, 24 March 2018 - and everyone's invited to enter.
We're looking for tasty cakes with an Easter theme and the wow factor, so it's now time to get your thinking caps on.There will be 2 categories: adults and under 13s, with both being judged by top chef Jean-Christophe Novelli and local cake supremo Natasha Brown from Brown's Cakes. The entries will be judged on taste, presentation and creativity. There'll be prizes for the winners and runners up.
'A chance to show off your skills'
Natasha Brown who won a local cake competition herself a decade ago to help kick start her career is encouraging the boroughs home bakers to enter:
"I hope lots of people will enter this competition which I can promise you will be great fun. Jean-Christophe and I are looking forward to meeting the regions baking enthusiasts and it will really give you a chance to show off your skills."
To enter, you must deliver your cake to the Indoor Stage at Rochdale Town Hall by 10am on Saturday, 24 March 2018. Please present your cake on a disposable cake board, clearly labelled with your name and entry category. The winners will be announced on the Indoor Stage at 2.30pm during the festival.
The region's foodies are in for a treat when the festival is staged for the first time this Spring – 4 top chefs will be cooking live, CBeebies 'I Can Cook' presenter Katy Ashworth is presenting her family shows and there'll be an outside food and drink village, free themed workshops covering wine tasting, cocktail making, chocolate making and more plus artisan stalls and live music from local acts. There'll also be a FREE seating area to watch chef demonstrations on big screens and soak up the festival atmosphere.
