Rochdale's best young musicians will be banging the drum for the borough when they perform alongside a top army band.
Lancashire Royal Artillery Band will be performing alongside the music services’ Youth Wind Band in this special concert.
Rochdale Music Services’ fanfare team will join with the Royal Artillery’s fanfare team to open the concert with what promises to be a rousing rendition of ‘Fanfare for the Common Man’.
Rochdale Music Service is the only music service in North West with a youth fanfare team and this unique team are delighted to be playing alongside their counterparts in the army.
The fanfare team only been formed for a year and have already played on top stages like The Bridgewater Hall. They will be performing in April at the Royal Northern College of Music as part of the National Concert Band Festival.
Councillor Kieran Heakin, cabinet member for children’s services, who is a former member of the Royal Artillery and Territorial Army said: “It is delightful to see our music service provide a concert like this and with my army background I know it will be a special event. The music service delivers fantastic shows throughout the year and to see our young bands performing with such established and revered bands as the Royal Artillery is a great reward for them.”
The whole night will provide an eclectic mix of young, musical talent as the Rock School, Youth Choir and Dixie Band will all be performing.
This special performance will take place at 7pm on Sunday, 25 March 2018 in the stunning setting of Rochdale Town Hall’s grand hall. Admission is free and open to anyone.
