The M&S Foodhall in the new retail and leisure development, Rochdale Riverside, is set to open to the public on Monday, 6 April 2020 following completion of the construction of the £80 million scheme, with contractors working to Public Health England guidelines.
It will operate as an essential retailer, replacing its existing Yorkshire Street store, which will close on Sunday, 5 April 2020.
The opening of other occupiers in the scheme, which include Next, H&M, Reel Cinema and Hollywood Bowl’s mini golf concept, Puttstars, has been postponed as a result of the current public health situation.
Rochdale Council leader, Allen Brett, said: “M&S will be opening the Foodhall section of its new Rochdale store to ensure its customers can still buy essential goods from them following the closure of their existing Rochdale shop.
“For obvious reasons, the rest of the occupiers will not open until later in the year. We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors to this fantastic new development at the right time, once it’s safe to do so.”
The 520-space car park will be free for M&S customers and town centre key workers for an initial period.
