Rochdale businesses invited to ‘meet the buyer’

21 April 2017

Number One Riverside

Local businesses across Rochdale will get the chance to pitch for business with some of the biggest public sector organisations in Greater Manchester at a special 'meet the buyer' event in summer 2017.

The event, which will be jointly hosted by Rochdale, Stockport and Trafford Councils, will give suppliers the chance to speak directly to buyers from companies including STAR procurement, the shared procurement service for Stockport, Trafford and Rochdale Councils, Rochdale Boroughwide Housing, Stockport College, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and Transport for Greater Manchester.

The buyers are on the lookout for a number of different goods and services this year, including pest control, printing and graphics, power tools, library materials, fixed wire testing, residential care services, fire and security maintenance; and bus stop/shelter route equipment.

'A great opportunity for local small and medium-sized businesses' – Councillor Richard Farnell

Meet the Buyer matches the goods and services offered by businesses with the current buying requirements of participating purchasing teams, to ensure supplier businesses meet with those companies actively seeking the service they offer, making the 'pitching' process more efficient.

The event, which is by appointment only, takes place at Stockport Town Hall on Tuesday 20 June 2017, but interested businesses will need to register their interest by Monday 15 May 2017.

Councillor Richard Farnell, Leader of the council and cabinet member for regeneration, said: "This event is a great opportunity for local small and medium-sized businesses to get past the gatekeeper and talk directly to those in a position to buy their products or services. We strive to work with local businesses wherever possible, so I'd encourage local companies to find out more about this fantastic event, to put themselves in the best position to tender for contracts."
