Policed to be of service – Heywood centre cops ten years supporting local firms

12 July 2017

The Old Police Station in Heywood.

The Old Police Station in Heywood is preparing to celebrate a special birthday. On Thursday, 13 July 2017 it’s 10 years since we converted the building into managed workspace.

£1.3 million was invested by New Heart for Heywood to transform the building into modern offices for rent after it was vacated by Greater Manchester Police when they moved to the new Queen’s Park Road site.

To mark the occasion, over 50 guests including current tenants and customers, former tenants and representatives of other organisations involved with the centre are expected to join the Mayor and Mayoress to toast the occasion at 12pm midday on Thursday, 13 July 2017.

Our Council Leader Richard Farnell said that for a decade The Old Police Station has been providing a great base for local companies:

“I’m proud that the council has been involved with helping this vibrant centre make such a valuable contribution to the local economy. As well as providing office space for more than 80 companies it has provided them with invaluable support, social events and an opportunity to interact with other business people.”
