Rochdale Feel Good Festival goers are advised to plan their journey, arrive early and allow plenty of time to get to the event this weekend.
Thousands of people are expected to head into Rochdale town centre on Saturday, 18 August 2018 for the fabulous annual showcase of entertainment, food and family entertainment, which is being headlined by rock band Feeder.
The festival runs from 11am until 11pm, followed by the official festival after-show party at The Wellington pub, and live music across other indoor venues.
'A great celebration that offers something for the whole family'
Councillor Janet Emsley, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Community and Culture said:
"Car parks, taxi ranks and Metrolink will be signposted but as always we advise those attending to plan their arrival and return home journey in advance. The town centre is going to be extra busy and some road closures are in place, so allow extra time."
For those travelling into Rochdale from Manchester and Oldham, Metrolink runs a direct service to the town centre and Rochdale Town Centre tram stop is only a one-minute walk from the festival site. Rochdale railway station connects to Manchester and Leeds and the festival is a 10-minute walk from the station or a one-stop journey on Metrolink. Rochdale bus station is a 2-minute walk from the festival.
Danny Vaughan, TfGM's head of Metrolink, an official festival partner added:
"Metrolink is proud to continue our partnership with Rochdale Feel Good Festival, a great celebration that offers something for the whole family. The festival is just one minute from the Rochdale Town Centre stop, meaning Metrolink is one of the best ways to get to the event."
Council pay and display car parks are located across the town centre and the first 3 hours are FREE but you must always display a ticket. There is unlimited FREE parking on Saturday, 18 August 2018 at Hopwood Hall College Car Park, a 5-minute walk from the festival. The car park is open all day, but closes after midnight at 12.30am on Sunday. Any vehicles left overnight can be collected between 9.30am-1.30pm on Sunday, 19 August 2018.
The main stage area is not suitable for young children. All under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times, and unaccompanied under 18s will not be admitted. Re-entry for anyone under 18-years-old will only be permitted if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
For security reasons, everyone entering the main stage area will be subject to searches of their bags and their person, so visitors are being advised to pack as light as possible.
Councillor Emsley added:
"Please co-operate with any security requests and all searches. The less you bring, the quicker you'll get in. Please remember, this is a free festival, food and drink is for sale on site so please support local businesses".
From 12noon, the main stage will be headlined by rock band Feeder, alongside Britpop heroes Cast (pictured below), The Uplifters, The Curious Incident, Emily Faye, Last Race Home, VALA, The Alchemists, Scuttlers, High Wyre, [K S R], Anna Pancaldi and KAZE. Indoor venues including The Baum and The Flying Horse Hotel will also be hosting local acts.
The food and drink village will be open from 11am – 11pm alongside a pop-up garden, seating area and over 15 traders selling delicious dishes, fantastic street food and much more.
The Family Zone is supported by Arts Council England National Lottery funding, in partnership with Link4Life and will be open from 11am to 5pm. Just like the rest of the festival, admission is FREE and no tickets are required.
The festival is funded by us together with sponsorship from
The Flying Horse Hotel,
The Wellington gastro pub,
The Royal Toby and other local businesses including
