Packed programme as we show a feel for sensory awareness

27 July 2018

Councillor Iftikhar Ahmed with colleagues and residents.

We're holding an information and advice day for the thousands of residents across the borough with hearing, sight and speech problems.

On Wednesday, 15 August 2018, anyone living with a sensory impairment can attend a FREE event, held at Number One Riverside in Rochdale, to find out about the range of services provided by the council's adult care team.

There will be stalls packed with information, free hearing screenings, carers' assessments and the opportunity to meet guide dogs. Sensory experts will be on hand throughout the event to answer any questions.

In 2015, we held our first ever sensory awareness event, with scores of people from across the borough attending.

This is a great opportunity for people with a sensory need to discover the high quality support we have available

Tracey Little, Team Manager in adult care services, said: "This is a great opportunity for people with a sensory need to discover the high quality support we have available. I would encourage people to come along on 15 August and see the range of fantastic free services we have available."

Councillor Iftikhar Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Adult Care, said: "The council has a fantastic team in adult care, working tirelessly to support and help people with sensory needs. We are proud of the services we offer to people of all ages. Last year's event was packed with information, help and advice and this year promises to be even bigger and better."

The free sensory awareness event takes place at our Number One Riverside Building on Wednesday, 15 August 2018 from 10am-3pm.
