In response to the need to social distance, and many public venues being closed, the council's friendly and experienced fostering team are holding live information sessions on Zoom for people to find out more about becoming a foster carer with us.

There will be a short group presentation, opportunity to ask questions to the council's fostering team and foster carers as well as a chance to discuss fostering in more detail with a member of the team in a private virtual room.

Councillor Kieran Heakin.

'If you've been thinking about fostering then I'd really encourage you to join this event'

Councillor Kieran Heakin, cabinet member for children's services at Rochdale Borough Council, said: "We really value our information sessions. People who are interested in fostering with us always get a lot out of them, so we're excited about these new virtual events. If you've been thinking about fostering then I'd really encourage you to join this event as it is a valuable opportunity to hear more from our team, ask questions and speak to current foster carers."

Upcoming Zoom sessions are being held on:

  • 3pm, Thursday, 11 June 2020
  • 6pm, Wednesday, 17 June 2020

You can join the Zoom call in your internet browser, or download the Zoom app beforehand which is quick, easy and free.

  • If you are interested in taking part, please email foster@rochdale.gov.uk and you will be sent joining instructions.
  • Alternatively, please call 0300 303 1000 for a friendly chat about fostering.

You can find out more about fostering, including reading stories from many of the council's current carers, on our Fostering page.
