Williams BMW Rochdale Half Marathon, 10K and Fun Run will be ‘even better’ this year with a number of improvements for 2018.
All 3 routes received strong support from entrants and will remain the same when the event returns on Sunday, 7 October 2018.
Event Organiser Nick Barton from Rochdale Harriers said:
“Each year we listen to feedback from runners, spectators and residents. This year we’re not making changes to our routes as they’re scenic, relatively flat and were very popular in 2017. We will be phasing the start of the half and 10K to reduce congestion. We’re also increasing our prize fund, having new medals designed and improving our technical t-shirts as well as having more marshals out on the courses. We’ve seen a surge in early entries this year and we are expecting more runners on the start lines this time.”
Once again all races will start and finish by Rochdale Town Hall, they will be chip-timed on marshalled traffic-free courses, with a technical t-shirt and medal handed out to finishers.
Councillor Janet Emsley, our cabinet member for neighbourhoods, community and culture, said:
“The early bird discount should encourage people to secure their places for what is already a great value event and we have made improvements to make the experience more enjoyable for runners, their families and friends.”
Until Saturday, 31 March 2018, you can benefit from early bird discounts. Entry to the half marathon has been reduced by £7 and there’s £4 off the 10K.
The fun run will follow the same route around Broadfield Park and entry opens in July 2018.
Since 2015 over 3,200 people have taken part in the event which sets out on routes taking in town and some of the north west’s most picturesque countryside scenes.
Half marathon places now cost £21.40 for club-runners, £24.40 for non-club runners, while the 10K is £13.60 for club runners, £16.60 for non-club runners, with prices including the booking fee.
