All roads will lead to Rochdale's Springfield Park on Thursday, 15 June 2017 when children and their parents celebrate National Bookstart Week.
Parents and carers with children under 5 are invited to pack up a picnic and enjoy songs, rhymes, games, crafts and a miniature railway under this year's exciting theme of 'Let's Explore Outdoors'.
The entertainment will be led by early years library worker, Irene Peachey, and every child who attends the event will receive a free mini copy of Ellie Sandall's beautifully illustrated picture book "Everybunny Dance!!"
'The event, which is from 12noon - 2pm, is FREE for people of all ages and there's no need to book – just come along on the day.'
Joanne Eaves, of the council's library service, said: "National Bookstart Week is all about the joys and benefits of sharing books, stories and rhymes with children from an early age. Reading together every day can be lots of fun and can really help a child's development.
"This year's theme encourages families to explore the great outdoors, to read, discover and learn more about the natural environment. Let's hope the sun shines and everyone has a day to enjoy."
Popular fun and FREE weekly Bookstart Bear Club sessions, presented by Irene Peachey, operate in 6 libraries across the borough throughout the year – and membership of the library is FREE for all. Check out
