A top UK sports brand has put its feet first to back this year's Williams BMW Rochdale Half Marathon, 10K and Fun Run.

National sportswear and trainer retailer Footasylum has chosen our annual race as its national charity event with over 50 staff already signed up for the event on Sunday, 7 October 2018.

Employees from the company, which employs 200 at its Rochdale headquarters and 2300 nationwide have already raised over £2000 in sponsorship for Springhill Hospice, and that's expected to rise significantly in the coming weeks.

Footasylum will be also paying for nearby hotel accommodation for some of the runners, many of whom will be travelling to Rochdale from across the UK.

'A great way to support a good cause and our employees'

Danielle Davies, Chief Financial Officer at Footasylum, said the company are pleased to be part of the event:

"Springhill Hospice does some great work supporting patients and families and our staff are really looking forward to the event and raising as much money as possible. We enjoy getting involved with events like this as they are a great way to support a good cause and our employees, and I will be supporting the Footasylum team".

It's the first time the company have got involved with the event, and Councillor Janet Emsley, our Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Community and Culture, said:

"Running alongside your workmates is a lot of fun and it's a fantastic way to inspire a workplace, set a challenge and motivate employees so it's great news that Footasylum are taking part this year. Springhill Hospice is a great cause and the charity runners always get extra encouragement from the crowds and I am looking forward to cheering them on".
