Early bird registration opens for Williams BMW Rochdale Half Marathon and 10K

23 January 2017

Williams BMW Rochdale Half Marathon and 10K.

Still in time for New Year's resolutions, registration for this year's Williams BMW Rochdale Half Marathon and 10K is now open.

Early bird online entries opened at 10am on Friday, 20 January 2017, with everyone who enters before Friday, 31 March 2017 saving money - entry for the half is reduced by £5, and there's £3 off the 10K.

The popular event returns on Sunday, 8 October 2017, with all races starting and finishing by Rochdale Town Hall and the race routes are being redesigned to attract even more runners.  Since 2015 over 2,200 people have taken part in the event, which sets out by the new Gracie Fields statue, and the recently uncovered River Roch bridge on traffic-free courses taking in town and some of the north west's most picturesque countryside scenes.

Councillor Janet Emsley, our Cabinet Member for Culture, Health and Wellbeing said:

"This is a fabulous event and I'm pleased to see it return.  Our early bird prices will be held until Friday, 31 March 2017 and everyone is welcome to sign up, from new runners to those looking to beat their personal best.  We still have room to grow and plan to make further improvements for 2017, so our hope is that this early bird discount will encourage people to secure their places quickly for what is already a great value event."

Runners who enter before Friday, 31 March 2017 can take advantage of the special 'early bird' entry prices – the lowest in the event's history. Half Marathon places cost £24.40 for club-runners, £26.40 for non-club runners, while the 10K is £15.60 for club runners, £17.60 for non-club runners, with all prices including a booking fee.  Fun Run entry opens in June.  The routes will again be fully-marshalled and on roads closed to traffic. Finishers will receive a medal, technical t-shirt and goody bag.

'Last year the event attracted runners from across Greater Manchester, Yorkshire, Cheshire and beyond as well as many from the borough, with spectators coming out in numbers to line many parts of the route.'

Rob Gower, head of business at Williams BMW Rochdale said:

"Williams BMW Rochdale is proud to be part of this wonderful event and want to see it firmly established as one of the best running events in the North West. The event exemplifies the benefits of adopting a healthy lifestyle and helps to raise much needed funds for valuable causes."
