The official beer for this year's Rochdale Feel Good Festival has been unveiled.

‘Buck Rogers’, inspired by the name of headliner Feeder’s top 5 single, is a limited edition 3.9% pale ale. Brewed by Rochdale based Serious Brewing Company, it has a crisp and refreshing taste with hints of apricots and peaches.

It will be available on draught from Friday, 10 August 2018 at The Flying Horse Hotel, The Wellington and The Baum before being rolled out to other locals in the borough including The Old Post Office in Castleton, The Bird at Birtle, The Cemetery Hotel and Owd Betts.

Husband and wife duo Ken and Jenny Lynch opened their artisan micro-brewery in 2015 and it's the 3rd time they've brewed the festival's official tipple.  The growing business supplies over 30 pubs in the north of England and next month their 'Evergreen' golden bitter will make its debut at the Great British Beer Festival in London.

'Brewing'

Jenny Lynch from The Serious Brewing Company said: "We look forward to the Feel Good Festival each year … it's a really positive event for the town with a great atmosphere, showcasing many great bands and businesses and we're delighted to be brewing the official beer again".

The title of the song Buck Rogers was inspired by the television show of the same name as composer Grant Nicholas wanted to create a futuristic sound. It was the first single to be taken from their Echo Park album and was first played live at the Glastonbury Festival in 2000.

Rochdale Feel Good Festival returns on Saturday, 18 August 2018, for another showcase of entertainment, food and culture. There will be live music across indoor venues, a main stage against the backdrop of the town hall, a Family Zone plus a food and drink village.

The main stage will be headlined by Feeder, on a line-up which also includes Britpop legends Cast, ska music stars The Uplifters, country singer Emily Faye, new band Last Race Home, pop rock duo The Curious Incident, Manchester duo KAZE, international songstress Anna Pancaldi, R & B singer [ K S R ], Rochdale indie dance funk band The Alchemists plus new bands VALA, Scuttlers and High Wyre.

The festival is funded by us together with sponsorship from The Flying Horse Hotel, Arts Council England National Lottery Funding, Premier Kia, The Wellington gastro pub, MetrolinkO2 Rochdale, The Royal Toby and other local businesses, including The Medicine Tap and Rochdale Town Centre Management.
