Our apprenticeship team has been announced as finalists for the north west in the 'Macro Employer of the Year Award'.
The National Apprenticeship Awards, now in their 15th year, showcase the diverse range of sectors engaged with apprenticeships and celebrate outstanding apprentices, employers and those individuals who go above and beyond to champion apprenticeships.
We are one of only 3 councils to make it through to the regional finals, alongside Stockport and Northumberland.
'This is a fantastic achievement and is yet another great success story for Rochdale and the apprenticeship scheme'
Councillor John Blundell, Cabinet Member for Skills and Employment, said: "I am delighted that they have made it to these finals. This is a fantastic achievement and is yet another great success story for Rochdale and the apprenticeship scheme."
Over 130 apprentices have started their roles with us and local schools in the last year, one of the highest amounts in local government.
The hard work and success of the team means that we are one of only 5 public sector bodies to meet our apprenticeship start target this year, with at least 2.3 per cent of our staff being apprentices.
The regional finals take place on Wednesday, 19 September 2018 at Manchester Marriott Victoria and Albert Hotel.
'We work really hard with the apprenticeship programmes and getting to finals like this shows the success we are achieving for Rochdale, that's what it's all about'
Andy Turner, who manages our programme, said: "We are overjoyed that we've made it. We work really hard with the apprenticeship programmes and getting to finals like this shows the success we are achieving for Rochdale, that's what it's all about."
The team are now waiting to see if they make it through to the national finals in November.
