The Northern Gateway - Heywood and Pilsworth is land located between junctions 18 and 19 of the M62 motorway. We want to develop this land to provide:
- Investment
- Jobs
- Homes
- Community benefits
- Better travel connections for residents and businesses
This land is one of the sites included in the Places for Everyone plan.
Our plans
Rochdale Borough Council and Bury Council are working with landowners and stakeholders to create a document detailing our plans. This document is called the Northern Gateway Development Framework (NGDF).
The NGDF includes:
- Development plans for the site
- Protected areas of the site
- A comprehensive masterplan
- Design principles
- A development guide
Next steps
After considering your feedback, we will:
- Refine and develop the NGDF.
- Present a finalised version of the NGDF to Rochdale Borough Council and Bury Council cabinets for approval.
- If approved, we'll adopt the NGDF as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). More about SPDs
