Sure Start Children's Centres Privacy Notice

Sure Start children's centres offer a range of support and services including early learning and childcare, family support, parenting and health services. We contact customers and families for various purposes such as advertising sessions, reminding them of up coming sessions and advising them of meetings, etc.

What personal information we collect

We collect personal information to make sure that we can carry out our work. The personal information we collect includes:

  • Name
  • Age and date of birth
  • Address and contact details including email
  • Marital status
  • Health or medical records including disabilities
  • Attainment or educational data
  • Employment data
  • Financial information such as bank details
  • Identifiers such as National Insurance number, passport number, driving licence number, vehicle registration number
  • Photographs

We're required by law to provide Children's Centres. This is detailed in legislation and guidance including:

There is no minimum legal time limit for how long this service needs to store your information so we will only keep your information for as long as is necessary to provide the service you have asked us for.

This service doesn't transfer your information outside the EEA.

We do not routinely share data with any organisation outside the UK, but our website is available across the internet and we communicate with applicants and stakeholders wherever they are.
