Asset Management Privacy Notice

Please note: the following notice provides additional privacy information to the Rochdale Borough Council privacy notice.

We manage the land and property belonging to the council. We're responsible for:

  • Management and letting of premises leased to third parties
  • Industrial estates management including new lettings
  • Management of garage plots, garden plots, agricultural and grazing land
  • Management of temporary lettings, rights of way licences, bore hole licences, site compound licences
  • Sales of council owned land and buildings
  • Preparation of asset and rating valuations
  • Acquisition of properties through Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs) and agreement
  • Valuations of council owned land and property
  • Land surveys
  • Property review and corporate property advice
  • Special projects linked to affordable housing programmes and regeneration
  • Staff accommodation moves
  • Staff move frequently asked questions (FAQs), process flow charts and change request forms
  • Management of Council occupied buildings

What personal information we collect

We collect personal information to make sure that we can carry out our work. The personal information we collect includes:

  • Name
  • Address and contact details including email address
  • Financial information such as bank details

  • Manage assets and property, including lettings and lease termination

Why we use your personal information

We're required by law to provide an Asset Management service. This is detailed in legislation and guidance including:

  • Section 123 of the Local Government Act 1972
  • Local Authorities (Land) Act 1963
  • Town and Country Planning Act 1959
  • Compulsory Purchase Act 1965
  • Compulsory Purchase (Vesting Declarations) Act 1981
  • Acquisition of Land Act 1981
  • Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976

We're allowed to process personal and sensitive data for the following reasons under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Articles and the Data Protection Act:

  • To comply with a legal obligation
  • For a public task or statutory function
  • For performance of a contract

Who we share your personal information with

We collect information from and disclose information to individuals and organisations that can support our work including:

  • Elected members
  • Service providers

When we make an automated decision about your personal information

This service doesn't make any decisions using computers or programmes that don't involve a human being when using your personal information.

How long we keep your personal information

We keep personal information collected as part of this process for a minimum of 6 years from the date of collection, or for an additional length of time if necessary.

When we transfer your personal information beyond the European Economic Area (EEA)

This service doesn't transfer your information outside the EEA.

We do not routinely share data with any organisation outside the UK, but our website is available across the internet and we communicate with applicants and stakeholders wherever they are.
