Deputy Mayor of Rochdale, 2019-2020
Mr Aasim Rashid moved to Rochdale in 2001. He has obtained a master’s degree in economics.
Being a passionate and dedicated community worker he has served on a voluntary basis and as an elected member.
Aasim is a very strong campaigner of integration and an even stronger voice for equality, social justice and multicultural rights. He is passionate to use his expertise for the betterment of Rochdale. Aasim is a successful business entrepreneur who has a vision to see Rochdale thrive in the economic field. As he is successful in his business, he is determined to achieve his goal to help local charities.
Aasim is a loving husband and devoted father, who is committed to strengthen and empower local organisations, who need help to deliver their services to the needy and vulnerable. His motto is - success rests not only on ability but on commitment, pride and loyalty. Always work hard, never give up and believe in yourself.
Deputy Mayoress of Rochdale - Mrs Rifit Rashid
Rifit Rashid was born and raised in Rochdale. She went to Falinge Park High School, where she then went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in business and tourism studies from the University of Bolton.
Rifit is a dedicated mother to three children and also has a passion for involving herself into the heart of the community. She has been able to juggle and balance her life as a mother and a director of a retail company.
Rifit has a desire to work for local Rochdale charities as well as making it her mission to help the needy and vulnerable.
Rifit's motto is to live life with integrity and empathy and to always remain positive.
