The United Kingdom (UK) is leaving the European Union (EU).
Leaving the EU means a number of changes that will affect businesses, organisations and individual citizens.
This page provides a number of useful links designed to give people the information they need and help them prepare.
Prepare for EU exit (Brexit)
The government has launched a website so residents and businesses can prepare as best they can for when we leave.
It includes sections for businesses and organisations, individuals, UK nationals in the EU and EU citizens in the UK.
More help for businesses
The Business Growth Hub provides access to growth programmes expertise and information. It has the latest news, practical guides and advisers ready to help you continue to grow your business as the UK exits the EU.
Settled and pre-settled status
If you're an EU (European Union), EEA (European Economic Area) or Swiss citizen, you and your family can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue living in the UK after 30 June 2021. If your application is successful, you'll get either settled or pre-settled status. You may be able to stay in the UK without applying.
Employers will also need to verify all their employees have the legal right to live and work in Britain or will face penalties.
Applications for settled status must be made online and there is free internet access to help you get online at each of our libraries across the borough.
Travel to Europe
Leaving the EU will mean changes to travel in Europe. The GOV.UK website has information about passports, driving abroad and overseas home ownership.
