Rochdale Register Office offers you the opportunity to renew your marriage vows or civil partnership promises in a unique and personal way whilst not having any legal status.

A civil ceremony can't include any religious content. If you'd prefer a religious ceremony you'll need to contact the relevant minister to discuss your requirements.

Personalising your ceremony

Please contact us to discuss options for personalising your ceremony.  You may wish to include things like bringing your own music, having readings read by your guests, saying additional vows or promises.  Please be aware, legally, a civil ceremony can't include any religious content.

There's plenty of scope for personalising your ceremony.  You may prefer to write your own personal vows or you can choose from a selection we provide when you come to your appointment to discuss your ceremony.

The ceremony can also include rededication of rings or the giving of new rings, readings and acknowledgement of children.

After the ceremony you'll be given a commemorative certificate which you'll sign along with your witnesses.

Arranging your ceremony

The steps you'll need to take to renew your vows.

  1. Find locations for your ceremony.
  2. Provisionally book your ceremony.
  3. Once you've decided on the location and date of your ceremony contact the Register Office to book an appointment to discuss the details of your ceremony and to pay a deposit. At the appointment you'll need to bring with you your marriage or civil partnership certificate.
  4. If you've chosen your ceremony to take place at Rochdale Register Office find out what happens on the day of the ceremony.  At your ceremony you'll be presented with a commemorative certificate.
