How to form a civil partnership

You'll need to follow these steps to form a civil partnership.

  1. See who can form a civil partnership
  2. Find locations for your ceremony
  3. Provisionally book your ceremony
  4. Give notice of civil partnership
  5. Choose your promises
  6. If you've chosen your ceremony to take place at Rochdale Register Office, find out what happens on the day of the ceremony
  7. Receive your civil partnership certificate

Certificates for your civil partnership

At your ceremony you'll be presented with a commemorative certificate.

Once the partnership registration has been updated on the computer national database, you'll receive a certified certificate to confirm the registration of your partnership. Your certified certificate will usually be available for collection or posting the next working day.
