Choose your vows

The minimum legal requirement as part of your ceremony is to say declaratory and contracting words. You can choose from the following 3 options. We'll use 'Choice A' wording unless you tell us otherwise.

Civil partnership - promises

The minimum legal requirement to form a civil partnership is you read a declaration and sign a partnership schedule. If you wish to include promises and exchange of ring you'll be asked to choose from the following.

2I declare before these people that I will be caring and loving to you and promise to be supportive of you as an individual

3I promise to love and cherish you and always be your friend. I promise to value our relationship and always be honest with you. I will be there to comfort you in times of sorrow and rejoice with you in times of happiness.

Own choice of promise. If you choose to write your own promises, please ensure there is no religious wording within the promises.

Before your promise can be included in the ceremony we'll need to approve it. Please let us have your prepared promise at least 7 working days prior to your ceremony.

Exchange of rings

Personalising your ceremony

Please contact us to discuss options for personalising your ceremony.  You may wish to include things like bringing your own music, having readings read by your guests, saying additional vows or promises.  Please be aware, legally, a civil ceremony can't include any religious content.
