Change of name deed

From 1 January 2021, Rochdale Register Office will no longer be located within Rochdale Town Hall. It is moving to a new home at Number One Riverside in Rochdale town centre as the town hall is closing for renovations.

All Register Office services will be available from Number One Riverside, including the change of name service.

We offer a “change of name deed” service for any adult over the age of 18 and, in certain circumstances, to children under the age of 16.

A name deed is an acceptable document to prove that a person has changed their name. It should be used in conjunction with a birth certificate and other supporting documents. The Passport Agency and other government departments are happy to accept a name deed as documentary evidence to change a name on a passport or other formal documents.

A change of name deed will be prepared and witnessed by a trained Registration Officer and you'll receive your name deed at the end of your appointment.

We keep a permanent record of your change of name deed and you'll be able to apply for replacement copies if you lose the original copy.

We provide a fast, efficient and personal service for completing your name deed at a very competitive price.
